Why Benewah County?

In 2006 Mike and his wife, Mary, decided to follow their dreams so they sold their home in Reno, NV and set out to find a small town where they could live a simpler life and raise cattle. They found and fell in love with St. Maries. Since then they have built a successful cattle business and grow hay in Minaloosa Valley near Plummer. All of this accomplished while also working full time for Southwest Airlines.

Important Issues in Benewah County

Mike has a strong belief that the members of the Sheriff's department need to interact with the citizens more often in order to know what issues are important to our community and provide transparency. Mike hopes to hold town hall meetings on a regular basis to hear the concerns of the community.

Deputies should be available throughout the county.

Drug abuse is a large problem in our county and he feels that we not only need to handle the distribution but would also like to see more programs put in place to help those addicted to drugs.

Other important goals include:

  • Bring back the Reserve Deputy Program

  • Promote private property rights

  • Hold optional firearm safety classes for the community
